Central Connecticut State University — Nicolaus Copernicus Hall

This project started in the fall of 1998 as a Pre-Design Evaluation
Report for the 5 story Science and Technology Building for the
Connecticut Department of Public Works. The scope of work materialized
into a shopping list of projects that could be chosen to meet the
client’s budget. Renovated classrooms included laboratories for natural
and life sciences, as well as computer technologies. The relocated
animal quarters suite was completely upgraded and expanded. Other
facility needs were the replacement of 37 old fume hoods with 66 new
hoods and diagonal "X"-bracing reinforcement of the building’s
structure. Five phases kept the building occupied and operational
through the 24 months of construction.
