Stephane Colbert-Photography purchased an abandoned 1930's era industrial building along the Pootatuck River in Connecticut. The building offered significant interior height and a panoramic view of the river, but was badly deteriorated. The primary goal of the commission was not only to meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of the studio, but to provide for maximum connection with the river. This was accomplished through the use of glass curtain walls and decks which cantilevered above and over the river. The building's concrete exterior block was refurbished and clad in an exterior insulated stucco system to provide a connection with the industrial base of the area.
