Planned Parenthood
New York, NY
Planned Parenthood had recently acquired a historic building in the
city's SOHO district. After a careful renovation it was to be used as
an executive office building and the new home of the Margaret Sanger
Center.
The extensive interior renovations involved four complete
floors for the educational center and the women's health center. These
loft floors featured ornate cast iron columns and heavy wood
construction, which were highlighted as part of the design. The
exterior of the building was rebuilt to maintain the historic nature of
the neighborhood and yet give the facility a high level of security and
privacy. The first floor facade was completely reconstructed with
reproduction cast iron terra cotta installed to maintain the original
historic design intent.
