State University of New York — Stonybrook
Stony Brook, NY
Designed in partnership with Urbahn Associates, the Engineering
Building's renovation and expansion will serve as the focus of the
Engineering Quad, tying together the departments of Mechanical and
Electrical Engineering with Materials and Applied Science. Through the
Departments for Thermal Coatings, Thin Film Technologies, Polymer
Research and Applied Materials Design, the University has created an
important Center for Advanced Technologies that works with the Long
Island community to expand the research role of the University.
Also designed in partnership with Urbahn Associates, the
new Computer Science Center will be approximately 65,000 square feet
and provide teaching, research and administrative space for the newly
developed College of Computer Technologies. This facility will serve as
an anchor building in the Stony Brook Engineering Quad. The State of
New York has announced a $100 million initiative to develop a Center
for Strategic Excellence at the campus, with the Computer Science
Center as its core facility.
